The Fen phone / concept 01

A phone for the room.

The warmth of a real receiver. The convenience of your mobile number. An idea for making home feel a little more present, still in the making.

How we're thinking about it

01—03

01 / CONNECT

Come home. Get connected.

We're exploring local Bluetooth call connections with paired mobile phones. The goal: when an owner is within range and has opted in, their incoming mobile calls could ring on Fen. This is a hypothesis to test across actual phones and operating systems, not an automatic-presence guarantee.

02 / RECOGNIZE

Know who the ring is for.

Different physical ring patterns for different people are part of our design brief. Spoken caller and recipient announcements are an optional idea, subject to what call information a connected phone exposes and to clear privacy controls. We have not validated the mechanism yet.

03 / CHOOSE

Let quiet be quiet.

A house phone should be easy to silence. We're designing for a physical off/quiet control and per-person preferences, without assuming Fen can change how each person's mobile phone itself rings.

An honest progress report

Still at the drawing board.

This is a product concept, not a preorder. We haven't selected production hardware, proven multi-phone call handling, or set pricing or a launch date. First we'll validate the connection and the sound, then share what we've learned.

Good questions to ask

A few things
we're figuring out.

Will it work with every phone in my house?

That's the ambition, but not a verified feature. Common Bluetooth home-phone systems support only a limited number of active mobiles. We need to test capacity and reconnection before setting a number.

Do I need a landline?

Our working direction is to use existing mobile calling rather than require a new landline. The first architecture is not selected or proven yet.

Can I buy one now?

Not yet. There's no checkout or reservation list. We'll publish concrete updates here when we have a tested prototype and a responsible path to production.
